What is Virtual IPDS Printer ?

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Virtual IPDS Printer installs a shared printer namely Virtual IPDS Printer, which allows users to print virtually any type of documents to this printer, and get the output on a mapped Laserjet, Inkjet, or Multi-function printer that doesn't support IPDS printing. In this way users can leverage their existing non-IPDS printers and perform high level AFP/IPDS printing from an IBM AS/400 and Mainframe systems over an Ethernet LAN.

Users can also archive their AFP/IPDS printing as an AFP file with the help of the provided Print-To-File feature. Users can also store the print result in Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format).

With AFP Server plug-in users can even email the AFP/IPDS printing result to others, upload it to a FTP server, copy or move it to a network location.

In summary Virtual IPDS Printer is a flexible electronic document workflow solution for non-IPDS printers on various platforms.
